a team of 5 cadets, including myself, spent the majority of the semester training for the upcoming Bataan Memorial Death March. it's a marathon-long ruck march, meaning our backpacks must weigh a minimum of 35 lbs, to commemorate the Allied lives lost during the Bataan Death March during World War II. with long ruck marches consuming my weekends in preparation for the marathon-long ruck march, a lot of my Saturday texts were filled with, "Sorry man, I can't really come out tonight cuz my feet are destroyed from the 21-mile march today." we each carried upwards of 40 pounds on our backs during the event on March 22, and the atmosphere was something else. this was one of my favorite weekends of college by far, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat (in fact, we're returning in 2020!)
